The National Radioactive Waste Management Facility will only be located at a site that has been volunteered by a landowner, on land that is technically suitable, and with a surrounding community who is broadly supportive of this new industry.
Submissions will be one of the factors the Minister may take into account in understanding community sentiment for the Facility.
Public and private submissions will be considered, alongside direct feedback from a range of key stakeholders the views of neighbouring landowners are of particular importance, and the views of the Traditional Owners of land around the sites are also being directly sought.
Submissions can be made by:

The department will be accepting submissions from 1 August 2018 and has extended the acceptance period until community consultation concludes.
