The Government is placing a strong emphasis on community consultation and engagement throughout each stage of the project.
Because of this the department will work closely with communities that agree to proceed to the next stage of the process to develop a detailed project proposal as well as the structure for the community benefits measures.
Once the facility is constructed, its ongoing operation will involve community representation on the facility management board and regular engagement through open days. To ensure full public transparency the site will release all environmental and other monitoring data. It is also the intention that the site and its employees work with the community in ways that see them become a valued part of the local community.
